Breakfast

Pohe and potato bread rolls, made at the counter. The upvas dishes are breakfast here too — most of this shop’s morning goes out as sabudana.

On the counter

  • Vegetarian

    Upmma

    ₹90

Roasted semolina cooked with mustard, curry leaf and vegetables. Warm, and quick.

  • Vegetarian

    Shira

    ₹90

Semolina roasted in ghee with sugar and cardamom. Sweet, and eaten as breakfast here rather than as a pudding — often alongside the upmma, which is the local pairing.

  • Vegetarian

    Kanda Pakode

    Best seller₹100

Onion sliced thin, turned through besan and fried in loose handfuls. The monsoon order, and the thing to have with the ginger tea.

  • Vegetarian

    Bun Maska

    ₹90

A soft bun split and buttered thickly. Made to be dipped in the tea, and not much good otherwise.

  • Vegetarian

    Bread Butter

    ₹90

Toast and butter. The plainest thing the kitchen makes, and the quickest.

  • Vegetarian

    Bread Butter Jam

    ₹80

The same with jam, and ten rupees cheaper than without — which is the menu’s one oddity.

  • Vegetarian

    Pohe

    239 kcal₹90

Flattened rice steamed soft with turmeric, mustard and curry leaf, finished with coconut, coriander, groundnut and a wedge of lemon. Maharashtra’s breakfast, and at 239 kcal a plate the lightest thing here.

  • Vegetarian

    Potato Bread Roll

    (2 pieces)₹90

Spiced potato rolled into bread and fried — two to a plate. The four o’clock answer, and the one thing on the menu that is properly greasy.

About these prices. These are the shop’s delivery prices. Ordering over the counter is usually cheaper — a delivery menu carries the platform’s commission and the packaging. They are taken from the shop's own listing rather than from a board, so treat them as the upper end and ask at the counter.

About these pictures. The dish pictures on this page are illustrations, not photographs of our own plates. They show what a dish is, not the portion you will be served.

The rest of the morning is next door on this menu

This page had two dishes on it for a while, and said so, because the shop’s breakfast list ran to 24 and only six had been read off the listing. It is complete now — but breakfast here is spread across four counters rather than one.

What goes with what

₹200

🍚 Pohe and a normal tea

The Maharashtrian breakfast, and at 239 kcal for the plate the lightest thing the shop makes. Lemon over the pohe before the tea, not after.

₹200

🍞 Bread rolls and a ginger tea

Two rolls is a proper four o’clock, not a light one — spiced potato rolled into bread and fried. The ginger cuts it, which is why that is the cup to ask for.
