Tea house and snack centre
A tea counter that happens to run an upvas kitchen
Or the other way round, depending on the day. Satyawan Chowk, Devichapada, Dombivli West — open every day from eight in the morning until eleven at night.
What it is
Nalini’s is a snack centre on the ground floor of Gavdavi Darshana, at Satyawan Chowk in Devichapada. It is the size of shop that has one counter and no seating to speak of, and it does two things properly rather than twenty things adequately.
The first is tea. There are 10 of them — normal, masala, ginger, elaichi, pudina, tulsi, lemongrass, black, and the same cup made with less sugar or with none at all. The last two being their own priced items rather than a footnote is the whole character of the place in one detail.
The second is upvas food, and this is the part worth travelling for. Sabudana khichdi, sabudana vada, upvas bhaji, shengdana amti and shengdana curry — made every day, not only when the calendar calls for a fast. Most kitchens treat that as an Ekadashi menu. Here it is Tuesday.
Thirty-six of the thirty-nine dishes are vegetarian, and the upvas half leaves out onion and garlic as well. The three that are not are omelettes, and they have a page of their own. Alongside it there is pohe and there are potato bread rolls in the morning, coffee hot and cold through the day, and puran poli in two batches — ten to three, and six to ten.

Questions
Is everything vegetarian?
No — and this is worth reading rather than skimming. Thirty-six of the thirty-nine dishes are vegetarian and carry the green mark. Three are not: Single Omlet, Double Omlet and Omlet Pav, all made with egg, all marked red, and all on the Egg Dishes page. Every tile on this site carries its own mark, checked per dish rather than assumed for the shop. Much of the menu is upvas food, which is stricter still — no onion and no garlic — but the kitchen does cook egg, so if you keep a fast or a strict vegetarian household, say so when you order and ask how it is kept apart. That is a question for the counter, not for a website.
When is the puran poli made?
Two batches a day: from 10 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon, and again from 6 until 10 at night. Between those it is finished. It is the one thing here worth timing a visit around.
Are these the prices at the counter?
These are the shop’s delivery prices, taken from its own online listing. Ordering over the counter is usually cheaper — a delivery menu carries the platform’s commission and the packaging. Ask at the shop, and treat what is here as the upper end.
Is the whole menu on this site?
Not yet. The tea, coffee and sweets are complete. The breakfast list is longer than what is shown here, and the rest of it is being added rather than guessed at — an invented dish on a real shop’s page is worse than a short list.
Can I telephone an order through?
Yes — +91 76662 05373. One thing to know: the same family runs Nalini’s Kitchen in Bedekar Galli and that line reaches both, so ask for the Satyawan Chowk shop. The two have different menus, and it saves the call starting twice. The telephone is the right way to order anything that needs a sentence rather than a list — a fasting order, or a puran poli batch.
Do you deliver?
The shop is on the delivery platforms, and around Devichapada it is close enough to collect from. Ring and ask what they will send round — that is the shop’s call and not a website’s to make on their behalf.
The other Nalini’s, three streets away
The same family also runs Nalini’s Kitchen at G3 Shevanti Dhaam in Bedekar Galli, Thakurwadi, and the telephone line is shared between the two. That is the only thing they share: it is a different kitchen with a different menu, and it opens at five in the evening rather than eight in the morning.
Search engines regularly show one shop’s details under the other’s name, which is worth knowing before a journey. This is Nalini’s Coffee And Snacks Centre, shop four, Gavdavi Darshana, at Satyawan Chowk, Devichapada. If what you are reading says Bedekar Galli, or says it opens at five, that is the other one — and when you ring, say which you want.
