Bring the school list.
It is the fastest way to do this, and it saves the second trip that a half-remembered list always causes.
Schools here specify the ruling, the page count and often the exact size — and a 172-page long book is not a 200-page one when the class checks. Bring the printed list, or a photograph of it, and it can be matched line by line rather than guessed at.
Anything not on the shelf can usually be got in a day or two. In June that is worth asking about early — the fortnight everybody buys at once is the fortnight the distributor runs out.
