Ordering

Three ways, and the first one is still the best.

This is a shop at the end of a lane, not a warehouse with a delivery fleet. What it offers is that you can be there and back before an app would have confirmed the order.

How to buy

① The usual way

Walk in

Buvapada, by Ambedkar Chowk in Bhaskar Nagar. Open from six in the morning until quarter past eleven at night, every day. No minimum, no slot, and you can see what you are buying.

② Ask at the counter

Send the list

Most kiranas will take a list and put a bag together, and will send it round to a regular household nearby. Whether this shop does, and how far, is a question for the counter rather than for a website to answer on its behalf.

③ In writing

Through GoTender

The GoTender listing takes an enquiry in writing — useful for a long list, or for asking whether something specific is on the shelf before walking over.

There is no telephone number on this page yet.

Said plainly rather than left as a gap somebody has to notice.

No public source lists one — the directory hides it behind a button, and the shop’s own paperwork does not carry it. Rather than print a guess, the site is written to work without one: the address and the hours are on every page, and the map link goes to the door.

As soon as the shop gives its number it appears here, in the header, and on the GoTender listing — and WhatsApp ordering, which is how most kirana orders in Ambernath are actually placed, starts working.

What to expect on price.

Packaged goods carry a printed maximum retail price, and nobody may charge above it — that is the law, and it applies in a corner shop exactly as it does in a chain. What a large chain can do is discount a handful of lines below MRP; a shop this size generally cannot, and says so rather than pretending.

Loose goods — dal, rice, rava, spices — are weighed and priced by the kilo. Ask for the rate before it goes on the scale if you want to compare; nobody minds being asked.

Or simply come round
