A pre-wedding shoot, honestly described

What actually happens, so nobody arrives expecting something else.

You pick somewhere that means something — a beach, a fort, a street you both like, the studio itself if the weather is against us. We shoot for a few hours. There is a lot of walking, some standing about, and roughly twenty minutes near the end when you both forget there is a camera, which is when the good ones happen.

The light decides the timing, not the diary. Early morning and the ninety minutes before sunset are worth getting up for; midday sun puts hard shadows under everybody's eyes and there is no fixing that afterwards. If you can only do midday, we will bring the means to soften it, but the early slot is free and better.

Bring a change of clothes. Two looks in one session is normal, costs nothing extra in time, and doubles what the album has to work with.

And a small, unromantic tip: comfortable shoes for the walking bits. Every couple who ignores this regrets it by the second location.
