Before you come
Read this and you will not have to come twice.
Most repeat visits happen for one of two reasons: somebody ate before a fasting test, or came in the afternoon for a sample that wanted the morning. Both are avoidable in a minute.

Fasting — 8 to 12 hours, water allowed
A fasting sugar wants roughly 8 to 10 hours without food; a lipid profile wants 9 to 12. Plain water is not only allowed, it helps — a well-hydrated arm gives a sample far more easily. No tea, no coffee, no milk, nothing sweet.

Come in the morning where you can
Fasting is simplest overnight, and a few tests genuinely vary through the day. If a morning slot is impossible, tell us when you book and we will say whether it matters for what you have been asked to have.

Never stop a prescribed medicine for a test
Take your regular medicines exactly as prescribed unless YOUR DOCTOR has told you otherwise for this specific test. Skipping a dose to get a tidier number is genuinely dangerous, and it is not what anybody asked you to do. Bring the list of what you take.

No alcohol for 24 hours before a lipid profile
Alcohol moves triglycerides considerably, and a lipid result taken the morning after tells your doctor about last night rather than about you.

Skip the heavy exercise beforehand
A hard session before a blood test shifts several results temporarily. A walk is fine; a workout is worth postponing until afterwards.

Bring the prescription, and any earlier reports
The prescription tells us exactly what was asked for, which avoids both a missed test and one you were never meant to have. Earlier reports let the laboratory flag a result that has moved.

What a report is, and is not. A laboratory measures; it does not diagnose. Every result we issue is meant to be read by your doctor alongside your history and your examination.
